Gennaro Regina inaugurates the exhibition “THE LAND OF FIRES”
Mar 12, 2014
The culture and Neapolitan style of Gennaro Regina arrives in Geneva, in collaboration with "Cultura Italia sans frontiere" and with the patronage of the Campania Region, inaugurating the personal exhibition "La terra dei fuochi".
"I chose such a strong title - explains the author - as an antithesis to the latest sad and distressing representations of Naples that the media continually peddle throughout the world, to reverse the trend and finally give an image of Naples that can make people fall in love, intrigue, attract"
The project includes the exhibition of the works of Gennaro Regina and a catalogue of images of the same works accompanied by passages of literature by travellers who in past eras visited and lived in our city, praising its marvellous beauties, its works of art and why not, the friendliness and vivacity of its inhabitants.
On Thursday 13th at 6pm the vernissage at La Fumisterie, Rue des Noirettes 21 in Carouge will be accompanied by the reading and interpretation of Neapolitan texts.
The exhibition will remain on display until April 13.
Gennaro Regina: descendant of an ancient family of art publishers and Neapolitan antiquarian booksellers, he completed his classical studies in Naples and devoted himself to painting in order to freely communicate the emotions and sensations he experienced, transferring them to the canvas. He uses the tone of color as an expressive language, capturing details of urban landscapes in distant perspective: glimpses of the sea with gentle waves, fairy-tale moments of erupting Vesuvius, dreamlike sunrises and sunsets. His palette distributes lights and shadows with imperceptible passages, marking the silence and transfiguring the moment.
He has been reviewed by specialized magazines and has participated in the international painting prize "KAIROS", and has also been present in the international catalogue "Arte Contemporanea Mondadori" since 2010.
Some of his personal exhibitions: 2009 Milan, Salone del Mobile, "Metropoli", 2010 Naples, Palazzo delle arti PAN, "The scream of Vesuvius", 2012 Naples, Palazzo Reale, "Vesuvius", 2013 Rome, Vatican Museums, Palazzo della Cancelleria, "We are all Neapolitans", 2014 Rome, Palazzo Santa Chiara, "Idem"
